Back-To-School Rush

By Katherine Han

Summer has whizzed by and before you know it, it’s already August and back-to-school season is about to start. Pretty soon, the infamous “back-to-school rush” is going to be in full-swing. This is when students are rushing to get their summer work finished and get ready for the new school year. This time can often induce stress and chaos. Here are some tips to staying organized and stress-free during the back-to-school rush.

  1. Keep a planner

This is a very common way to stay organized, so that proves that it works. Knowing what you’re doing and when you’re doing it can help you manage your time and stay organized. Most people are visual learners, so having a planner can help you really picture your plans. In the rush of the back-to-school season, it’s easy for things to slip from your mind, so a good way to help remember things is to write things down. By writing things down in your planner, you are helping yourself remember to do those things. This could be especially helpful when you are buying back-to-school supplies.

  1. Don’t procrastinate!

Let’s be honest here, we’re all procrastinators. So, you probably saved all of your summer work to be done in the very last month of summer. If you’re one of the few people who didn’t do that, then congratulations, you won’t have to worry. But, if you’re like the majority of people, then you’re probably feeling a little stressed. It’s important to remember to not feel pressured and rush through your homework. If you organize your time correctly, you’ll still be able to finish your work. Use your planner and plot out when you’re going to finish your summer work. Try to get it all done as soon as possible and in the first few weeks of August. If you save it all to be done around the end of the month when the back-to-school rush is strongest, you will only feel more stressed.

  1. Take time for yourself

Back-to-school season can often be very stressful, but it’s important to remember that it’s still summer! Take some time for yourself and don’t let the back-to-school rush suck all of the fun out of your summer. Go to the beach, plan a movie night with friends, or go hiking. Do what you love to do because summer is when you truly get to spend some time for yourself. It’s the last month of summer before school is back in, so make the most out of it!
