In the cold winter months, everyone wants to stay warm. For us with homes, we have nothing to worry about. However, stray animals, or even house pets, have nowhere to go and are forced to find shelter in the most unlikeliest of places.
Cats especially, with their small, flexible bodies, are notorious for worming their way into car engines, the wheel wells, or under cars. Very often, unaware drivers kill cats when they start their cars.
To prevent cats from seeking warmth inside your car, you can park inside a garage. If that isn’t possible, honk your horn or knock on your car hood to scare off slumbering cats before starting your engine. To be safe, check your engine, wheels, and under your car for cats as well.
However, the best solution is always prevention. When you see a stray cat, bring it to a shelter. You can also leave a radiant heater, food, and a pile of blankets outside to give strays a warm home for the night.
