Parents in China

Being a parent is hard, but being a Chinese parent is even harder. Chinese parenting is very different from western parenting. Influenced and confined by our traditional culture, Chinese parents have to cultivate their children to be “perfect”, in order to promise them a bright future. For parents who desire to send their children abroad, without any doubt, is a tough and risky decision. They have to provide many factors to make it possible for their children to strike the balance of the study at school and the preparation for going abroad. These Chinese parents put majority of their effort maintaining this balance. It’s all or nothing;  you will very likely fail if you cannot keep the balance in these two aspects.

I had a conversation with a student who goes to the High School Affiliated to Renmin University of China, one of the most prestigious schools in China, and his parent revealed a lot about his role. Take a look at the video below.
