Taking a long, hot soak in your bathtub is a great way to end the day, but did you know that apart from the immediate feelings of pleasure afforded by baths, they can improve your health as well?
- Baths improve circulation
By submerging yourself in water, there is more pressure on your body. As a result, your heart works harder to pump blood. Think of it as a light workout for your heart. In the long run, circulation is improved.
2. Induces sleep
The warm temperature of the bath relaxes your muscles, allowing you to have a better night’s rest. Just be sure not to fall asleep in the tub.
3. Steam
The hot steam can open your airways by drying out mucus buildup in your sinuses. The steam also opens up pores, allowing for a deeper clean.
Be sure to limit your soak to at most 20 minutes. If you have a heart condition or are pregnant, hot baths are not advised.
