Fireworks symbolize joy and pride and are loved by many. However, the loud popping noises made by fireworks have caused many dogs to run away from home and harm other animals as well. Wild animals like birds are highly sensitive to the booming sounds of fireworks, which cause them to stress out and die.
Birds spend much of their time perched high in the sky, which means that they are closer to the sound and sight of fireworks. This doesn’t mean that birds fall out of the sky every Independence Day, but because of the unnatural environment that they are put in, their stress levels are raised. Furthermore, the waste left behind after these pretty explosions contaminates the environment and habitats.
Although fireworks are beautiful, we need to be careful. A short lasting moment for us can hurt our beloved wild animals.
There are three things that you can do, First, if you light fireworks, try to light them as late as possible. The amount of birds active at night is decreased. Second, remove all bird feeders and baths near places with fireworks. This way, it doesn’t attract any birds during a firework show. Last, clean up all the leftover fireworks so that the potential toxins are removed from the environment.
As you admire the beauty of fireworks on whatever day it may be, remember to be aware of all the precious wildlife that could be hurt, and don’t hesitate to remind others to be careful.
