Princess Eugenie, Queen Elizabeth’s granddaughter, married Jack Brooksbank on Friday, October 12th.
Her wedding dress featured a low back intended to show the foot-long scars along her spine, the result of correcting the curvature of her spine when she was 12 years old. She spoke of the importance of showing “people your scars” as she paid tribute to the hospital which performed surgery on her back when she was a child.
“This is a lovely way to honour the people who looked after me and a way of standing up for young people who also go through this,” she said. “I think you can change the way beauty is, and you can show people your scars and I think it’s really special to stand up for that.”
Princess Eugenie is beautiful, positive, and more importantly, she is a role model to countless people around the world.
