California is a state especially known for its beaches. A stereotype is that we spend all our days tanning on the beaches. Even though it isn’t true at all, we should still pride ourselves on the beautiful oceans we’re surrounded by. To keep our beautiful oceans, however, we should be extremely aware of sea life and the components that make it so beautiful.
- The warm beaches would not be warm without the sun. We like to tan and run around in the sun. But you can’t enjoy it anymore because you have to put on sunblock every twenty minutes because the sun’s rays are burning us. Pollution is destroying the ozone layer, leading the sun to be more harm than beauty. We can slow down pollution by doing many things. For example, I know as teenagers we can’t wait to get our license and drive everywhere by ourselves! But if all of us had a car, just imagine how much pollution there would be! Be sure to carpool and preserve all natural resources.
- There are billions of species of animals living in the ocean. Billions in the Pacific Ocean which California neighbors, and more in other oceans. Those adorable seals and colorful fish you see? There are plenty on the endangered and critically endangered species list! If you look at the extinct species list, you’d be surprised as to how many gorgeous animals we’ve lost because of our carelessness. Clean up your trash, do community service, and be aware of your surroundings to help them.
Nothing will change if change doesn’t start from your own homes. Since we’re known for our oceans, it’s our job to protect it. It’s your job to protect it.
