Dream: A step-by-step plan

Submitted By: S. Jonathan Nimal

Dreams change our journey in Life.

Dreams start in our journey of life from an early age. In our childhood we dream to become like the fairy tale stories that we hear. When we become teenage kids, our dreams begin to shape and mold our educational choices as we begin to pursue and study areas we dream to become. I define dreams as following:

D:Desire | R:Reachable | E:Equip | A:Act | M:Mission | S:Successful

DREAMS can be defined as: “Having set my DESIRED goal, I want it to be REACHABLE in time; I will then look at the things to EQUIP and start by ACTing on it in order to fulfill the MISSION and come out SUCCESSFULLY”

DREAMS is a step-by-step plan one can use to fulfill a desire. It entails:

D – Desire

Our dreams start with a desire. Some questions come in our mind.

  1. What do I want to study in college? 2. Where do I want to work after college? 3. What do I like to do for society? 4. What do I want to become as a person?

This desire arises from the depths of the heart. This desire can be inborn or comes from external sources like the inspiration from others, other people success, etc.

R – Reachable

After seeing the desire, I would decide which desire will be is reachable now and the coming years, i.e setting the time scale to reach my desires.

  1. What desire do I need to reach during my school years?
  2. What desire do I need to reach in College?
  3. What desire do I need to reach in 10 years?

E – Equip

Now I need to figure out the ways to equip the areas in my life, studies and career to accomplish my desire.

  1. What are the things that I need to equip to accomplish my desire?
  2. What are the areas I need to study to accomplish my desire in school?

By preparing a list, one can better prepare themselves to fulfill their dreams.

A – Action

My next move is to take action on the areas need to equip to accomplish desire of my heart. In the action process, I build and act on the steps to accomplish my desire.

M – Mission

Now my “mission” is to keep my eyes fixed on the desire and equip and act on the plans to fulfill the desire. If I say that I am on a mission, I will keep myself focused and accomplish my desire. For example, if my mission is to study and be successful in my studies at school, I should be focused and stay away from unnecessary relationships in the form of dating or the like.

S – Successful

Finally, at this point, I have completed my journey and have successfully reached my desire.

At the end I can say I “SUCCESSFULLY accomplished the MISSION by ACTING on things to EQUIP to the REACHABLE DESIRE of my life”.

By going through this step-by-step process, one can fulfill their aspirations in both school as well as daily activities.
