So girls, it’s finally here. The summer sun slowly wears out, and out comes the wispy clouds. Trees begin changing into shades of yellow, orange, and red as the air becomes crisp and cool. That’s right. Autumn is here, and with autumn comes a season of change, not only for the environment around you, but also for yourself; more specifically, for your closet. Days of bathing suits and flip flops are finally over, and it’s time to bust out the chunky sweaters and thick scarves.
We often look back at the summer season and wistfully remember the times of cute shorts and skirts. It’s like a wave of nostalgia that just hits us. Part of why we, students, love summer so much is because of three reasons: 1) No school, 2) Spending time relaxing at the beach or hanging out with friends, and 3) No dress codes, so all the fun clothes come out. The lightweight and pretty dresses, the tank tops, and most importantly, the flip flops and sandals. It all seems endless, until the calendar flips to September, and everything changes.
The fall season is often defined with the new fashion trends, from the ones on the Mercedes-Benz fashion week runway to the ones in the little boutique across the street from your house, as well as going back to school and resuming the busy schedule that seemed nothing but a memory during the glorious months of June, July, and August. Fall is probably the most important season in terms of change and transition, especially for fashion. The sudden change from wearing denim cutoffs and flip flops to jeans and boots is almost overwhelming. However, there are ways to keep a little summer flare in your fall wardrobe. Let’s talk basics.
1. Denim shorts: During the summer, every girl needs a pair of cute and versatile denim cutoffs, but it can also be a fall piece. Just pair the shorts with some fun printed tights under and a nice blouse and some oxfords or boots, and you’re good to go!
2. Lace dresses: A cute lace dress is always a fashion staple for the summer, but it is just as important in the fall. Wear it with a colored cardigan, some black tights and a pair of combat boots, and you’ll have the hottest summer-to-fall outfit out there.
Though fall gives the impression of thick clothing, adding a little summer into your fall wardrobe won’t hurt. Change up your fall style and surprise everyone. –M.
