Over the past week, my family has moved to a new house. This new house is very close to my current school, Monta Vista High School. The moving process was long and hard as I only had a few days to completely pack up my old life, and move it to the new house. On top of that there was also the usual schoolwork, studies, and extracurricular activities. I have moved quite a few times in my childhood, but I have never had such a quick, yet challenging move. Currently, I’m quite happy with the new neighborhood, for it is a calm, quiet area.
One of the best parts of our new house is the location. It is much closer to my school than our old house, because now I can walk to and from school each day. This is good because it saves time from my busy, everyday life. Furthermore, this also enables me to stay longer at school to seek extra help from my teachers. Over the past week, in preparation for an exam, I have stayed after school many times to study with friends and teachers. Another reason I am enjoying our new place is that it is easier from my friends and I to hang out. When we have free time, my friends and I will walk to my house after school, because it is so close. It is definitely nice to spend time with friends, as I feel it is important to have a balance between schoolwork, extracurriculars, and social life. The best thing about living so close to school is that I get to sleep in a little bit more in the morning! Even though it is only fifteen to twenty minutes more, it is still considered as a valuable commodity in my life anyways.
Even though this transition has been tough, having to completely change homes in a matter of a week, I am adapting quite well. In general, I am very grateful that I didn’t have to end up switching schools due to the location change. In my opinion, changing schools is definitely harder than changing houses. Although it has been a challenging week, with our new house mostly still in boxes, there has definitely been an improvement in my daily life after having moved closer my school.
